Born To You

Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord.

- Luke 2:11

The little phrase “to you”, in this often quoted passage, makes a big difference to you and me.  The angel proclaims to the lowly shepherds that something of infinite value was given to them.  It was not for the angels, it was not only for the elite, the wealthy, the educated, the well connected, or the “good” people.  It was for them, three verses later our instinct that this savior is for all people is confirmed, but this time it is a host of angels that testify to the good news.  They inform the shepherds, “on earth peace to men on whom his favor rests.”

This Christmas I am reminded of the personal expression of the love of God toward each of us in the incarnation of Jesus Christ.  Do you remember the day you realized a savior had been born to “YOU”?  I do, it is etched in my mind as the most glorious, life changing, transforming event that words cannot even begin to describe.

My prayer for each of you that have not is that you would come to know the Christ of Christmas.
